ARA: Chief judicial magistrate (CJM), Ara, rejected the bail petition filed by JD(U) MLA from Tarari assembly constituency in Bhojpur district Narendra Kumar Pandey alias Sunil Pandey on Thursday. Earlier, on Wednesday, the CJM had extended his judicial custody by 12 days and ordered for his production on August 3, 2015. He was produced before the court of the CJM on Wednesday through video conferencing from Beur jail, Patna.
Pandey was arrested on July 11, 2015, from the office of Bhojpur SP and was sent to Ara jail on 11 days judicial custody in connection with Ara civil court bomb blast case after the confessional statement of Lambu Sharma, one of the main accused in the case. Lambu had confessed before Delhi and Bhojpur police that Sunil Pandey had felicitated his escape from Ara jail on January 23, 2015 and had given him Rs 50 lakh as advance for the murder of Uttar Pradesh strongman and Mau MLA Mukhtar Ansari, who at present is lodged in Agra jail.
The Tarari MLA had also filed a bail petition in the court of the CJM on July 15, but in the meantime, he was shifted to Beur jail on July 18 on security ground after the order of IG (prisons) on the recommendation of DM Bhojpur. He was therefore produced before the court through video conferencing on Wednesday and the court after hearing his bail petition the same day fixed date for order on Thursday.
